Best Engagement Photo Locations in Norfolk | Norfolk Wedding Photographer

Planning your engagement shoot is such an exciting part of your wedding journey. It’s a chance to celebrate your love, practise being in front of the camera, and capture memories you’ll treasure long before the big day arrives.

As a Norfolk wedding photographer, I’m spoiled for choice when it comes to beautiful backdrops. From golden sandy beaches to hidden gardens and dramatic coastlines, Norfolk has something for every couple’s style. If you’re looking for inspiration, here are my favourite locations for engagement photos in Norfolk.

🌊 Winterton-on-Sea

Quiet, natural, and beautifully unspoilt, Winterton-on-Sea is one of my favourite beaches for pre wedding photos. The wide sandy beach and grassy dunes create a soft, romantic backdrop that looks incredible at golden hour. It’s also less crowded than some of the bigger beaches, so you’ll feel like you have the place to yourselves. Perfect for relaxed, barefoot photos with a dreamy coastal feel.

🌿 The Plantation Garden, Norwich

If you’d prefer something a little more hidden and whimsical, The Plantation Garden in Norwich is a real gem. Tucked away near the city centre. This Victorian garden is full of colourful flowers, winding paths and romantic corners. It feels like stepping into a secret garden, which makes it ideal for couples who love a more intimate, storybook-style setting for their engagement photos.

🏖️ Holkham Beach

Holkham is one of Norfolk’s most iconic beaches, and for good reason. With miles of golden sand, pine woods, and dramatic dunes, it offers so much variety in one location. Engagement photos here feel timeless and natural, especially when taken at sunset as the sky glows over the horizon. Whether you’re running along the shoreline or strolling through the pines, Holkham is a truly magical place for engagement photography.

🌅 Old Hunstanton

If you’re looking for a more dramatic backdrop, Old Hunstanton is a fantastic choice. The beach is known for its striking red and white striped cliffs, which add a bold, unique backdrop to your photos. The wide sandy stretches and colourful beach huts also make it a fun and vibrant spot. And since Hunstanton is one of the few west-facing beaches in Norfolk, you’ll get those rare, beautiful sunset shots over the sea.

🐚 Cromer Beach

For a classic Norfolk seaside feel, you can’t go wrong with Cromer. Between the pier, the sandy beach, and the lively seafront, it’s a great spot for couples who want a mix of romantic and playful photos. Think walking hand-in-hand along the pier, enjoying an ice cream, or simply watching the waves roll in. Cromer’s charm makes it the perfect backdrop for couples who want something full of character and fun.

✨ Tips for Choosing Your Engagement Photo Location

  • Think about your style – Do you love the coast, countryside, or something more urban? Norfolk has it all.

  • Pick the right time of day – Sunset gives the most flattering light (and often fewer crowds!).

  • Coordinate your outfits – Neutrals work beautifully at the beach, while bolder colours pop against garden or city backdrops.

  • Relax and enjoy – The best engagement photos come from simply being yourselves together.
